8 Places You MUST Read This Summer

Summer is finally here, and we want to be outside! For all my readers out there, you don’t have to feel confined to the inside of your home to be able to get some reading done. Catch some vitamin D while you enjoy your book. Here are a few places you can do that:

  1. In a hammock

Caution: This one may lead to a premature nap. But before you fall asleep, you’ll probably enjoy the easy feeling of floating in the air. That weightless feeling will only help strengthen your ability to focus on your book.

  1. The park

Go to your local park. Find a bench and read a few chapters. You can find a bench in a quieter area or even bring a blanket to lie on a flat area. Whether you like a little bit of noise or no noise at all, you can find a space at the park that caters to that.

  1. The beach

This is already a popular option for those with access to the ocean. Bring a beach chair or a towel and enjoy the background noise of the waves. Just don’t get your book wet :)

  1. The lake

Similar to the beach, at the lake you’ll be able to enjoy the sounds of the water while you read. Try to find a chair or a grassy area to lay your towel/blanket on.

  1. Around a campfire

Who says a campfire is only good for s’mores? The smell of firewood burning and the radiating heat on a chilly summer night make for a perfect reading atmosphere. Imagine the crackling fire in the background as you enjoy a thriller or a mystery.

  1. On a road trip

This summer, you should travel any way you can. Whether that’s across the country or a trip to a few towns over, explore the world just like you explore in your books. Read while you travel. If you’re the type of person who won’t get sick from reading in cars, on trains, or airplanes, take advantage of that travel time!

  1. On a hike or a run

This is the perfect time to plug your headphones in and listen to an audiobook. I recommend leaving one ear open, though, so you’re aware of your surroundings. You can even bring a small, portable speaker and listen to your audiobook through that!

  1. Outside a coffee shop

Grab a coffee, a tea, or a sweet treat and enjoy your book outside a local café. This is a great option if you want to bring a friend. It also works as a nice solo date if you enjoy spending your morning or afternoon quietly and slowly.
